EDUCATION, WALES

The School Governors' Annual Reports (Wales) (Amendment) Regulations 2002

  Made 21st May 2002 
  Coming into force 31 May 2002 

The National Assembly for Wales makes the following Regulations in exercise of the powers conferred on the Secretary of State by sections 42(1) and (2) and 138(7) and (8) of the School Standards and Framework Act 1998[1] and now vested in the National Assembly[2].

Name and commencement
     1. These Regulations are called the School Governors' Annual Reports (Wales) (Amendment) Regulations 2002 and shall come into force on 31 May 2002.

Amendment of Regulations
    
2.  - (1) The Schedule to the School Governors' Annual Reports (Wales) Regulations 2001[3] is amended as follows.

    (2) In paragraph 6, insert after sub-paragraph (a) "and", and omit sub-paragraph (c) and the "and" before it.

    (3) For paragraph 8 substitute - 

         " 8. The information relating to - 

      (a) pupils leaving the school, or employment or training taken up by pupils on leaving the school; and

      (b) authorised and unauthorised absence of pupils,

    which is required to be published in the school prospectus in accordance with regulations made under section 537(1) of the 1996 Act[4].".

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Regulations)


These Regulations remove the requirement to include in Governors' Reports certain information relating to pupils' attendance records (see paragraph 6(c) of the Schedule to the earlier Regulations), and substitute a new requirement to include information about authorised and unauthorised absences as set out in the School prospectus.
